# Enabling a Tag

Once you’ve created a tag and configured it properly, it’s time to start reading data. First, let’s [test the tag](/v1/docs/testing-a-tag). Make sure you get a successful response with an expected value. If the tag is testing successfully, use the status bar or detail dropdown to pull up the [control popup](/v1/docs/control-popup)and enable the tag. At this point, the tag will begin updating in the Live Data section, and the Quick Trend will begin showing you the login-term historical data.
