# Licensing Koios

Now that you have access to the user interface, you should be presented with a message at the bottom of the page indicating that there is no license file. Follow the link shown or use the side navigation bar to go to `System` > `License`.

### Generate an Activation File

Click on `Step #1` or select `Activation Request` from the dropdown in the top right. This will take you to the `Generate Activation File` form. From here, enter in the `License Key` provided to you by Ai-OPs (It will be in the format of `XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX)`.

Click the download button and ensure that `koios-activation.req` file was downloaded.

### Request a License

Now, follow `Step #2` and go to the [Ai-OPs licensing portal](https://ai-op.com/license/) and attach the activation request file and click `Request License`.

Ensure that a `koios.lic` file was downloaded.

### Uploading Your License

Now that you have a license, go back to Koios and select `activate your product` or click on `Step #3`. Attach your license file and click submit. Ensure your license status is now valid, indicated at the top of the license detail page.
